Spending time in natural environments does incredible things for our cognitive, emotional and physical wellbeing whilst also helping to develop positive environmental attitudes and values.
Research shows that 1 in 9 children in the UK hasn't set foot in a natural environment or green space in the last 12 months.
"As a Forest School leader and Environmental Educator, I was unable to deliver my regular Earthwise events with families and schools and yet it was a time when people needed nature more than ever, for their wellbeing. With this in mind, I developed nature inspired activities that we could deliver by post!"
We started the project in July 2020 using funding from The Community Farm's Covid Fund to deliver 50 free boxes to disadvantaged families in deprived areas of Bristol, many of whom have very little access to nature. While we do continue to seek further funding to provide regular boxes and increase our impact, 100% of the profits from sales of Earthwise Boxes are reinvested for this cause.

With childhood anxiety levels at an all time high, young people need to reconnect with nature for their own wellbeing but also for that of the planet. It is today’s youth that will be tasked with tackling the climate crisis head on. By spending more time in nature children can start to develop an understanding of the Earth’s natural systems, our place within them, and develop a sense of respect for the natural world.
“No one will protect what they don’t care about; and no one will care about what they have never experienced.”
- Sir David Attenborough
